About David Caldwell

Born and raised in the Miami Valley, Attorney and Prosecutor David Caldwell studied Political Science at Bowling Green State University and obtained his law degree at the University of Dayton School of Law.  David’s wife Ashley, who is an attorney and former City of Englewood Police Officer, was raised in the City of Englewood and is a Northmont High School graduate. They reside with their son in the City of Clayton. 

During a career that spans over 31 years, David has dedicated his career to private practice and public service. 

For 15+ years, David worked for multiple law firms including Joseph P. Moore & Associates in Vandalia.  His areas of law included criminal defense, municipal government law, domestic relations, and general civil litigation. 

For 23+ years David has worked in public service holding full-time and part-time positions as a County Public Defender, County Municipal Court Prosecutor, Law Director, City of Englewood Prosecutor, City of Vandalia Assistant Prosecutor and City of Vandalia Prosecutor. 

In David's own words: I have greatly enjoyed working in the City of Vandalia for over 18 years in private practice and public service.  The highlight of my career has been the last 15 years during which I have had the privilege to serve as a prosecutor for every community within the jurisdiction of Vandalia Municipal Court.  In my current position as City of Vandalia Prosecutor and previous position as the City of Englewood Prosecutor, I handled thousands of misdemeanor cases for the Cities of Vandalia, Clayton, Englewood, Union, and the Townships of Butler and Harrison. Having served so many years, it would be my honor to continue to serve all of these communities as the next Judge of Vandalia Municipal Court.

EDUCATION & LEGAL CAREER

To be a Municipal Court Judge requires a level of expertise and familiarity that can only be attained through genuine experience. It is crucial to have Judges who are not only well-versed in the law, but who also bring with them a significant background of practical knowledge in the Municipal Court system. David Caldwell brings a wealth of expertise, familiarity, and practical knowledge in the Municipal Court system to the table.

David Caldwell’s extensive career, spanning three decades, has always included Municipal Court appearances, cases and trials and has been a testament to his dedication and expertise within the Municipal Court system. With a deep understanding of both defense and prosecution, David has honed his skills in various facets of the law, ranging from criminal defense and domestic relations to municipal government law and general civil litigation. His experience is not just confined to one aspect of the legal system but rather encompasses a holistic view that is pivotal for the crucial role of a Judge.

David’s tenure in both private practice and public service has provided him with invaluable insights into the workings of the Municipal Court system. His career reflects his unwavering commitment to serving his community and ensuring that justice is administered fairly and impartially.
